Regional outreaches hosted In Guyana, UN Day was celebrated with the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Arch on the Camp Street Avenue in Georgetown (Region 4). The launch ceremony featured remarks by the country’s Prime Minister and First Vice-President performing the functions of President, Hon. Moses Nagamootoo and the Resident Coordinator, Ms. Mikiko Tanaka. In attendance were Ministers of Government, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and partners from across various sectors. The International Labour Organization, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Protection, conducted a two-day Training of Trainers seminar on October 4th and 5th which saw twenty-five participants from differing fields of work within the informal work economy. The intention of the workshop was to build capacities of key stakeholders on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the areas of agriculture, construction, and the services sectors and to finalize the awareness raising material to be used by stakeholders of these sectors in reinforcing OSH capacities of workers. At the request of the Government of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), on behalf of the UN Country Team, facilitated a Rapid Integrated Assessment (RIA) of the country’s planning documents to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
