Mikiko revisedMs. Mikiko Tanaka (Japan) is the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for the Co-operative Republic of Guyana.

Prior to this appointment (2013-2016), Mikiko was UNDP’s Country Director in Yemen. From 2010-2013 she was Country Director in Timor-Leste and Deputy Country Director in Pakistan from 2007-2010. She served as Deputy Resident Representative in Benin from 2002-2007. Mikiko was assigned to New York with the Office of Human Resources as Coordinator, Leadership Development Programme from 2000-2002. She worked in China from 1999-2000 as UNV Programme Coordinator and Poverty Alleviation Advisor and was in Lao PDR as Assistant Resident Representative (1995-1999). Before joining UNDP, Mikiko worked with CARE International in Thailand as Project Coordinator (1994-1995).

Mikiko holds a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Communication from International Christian University, Japan, a Master of Rural Development Management from Khon Kaen University, Thailand and a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from the University of London, England. She speaks French and English.
